Entry to the Fremantle Prison Gatehouse Complex which includes the Visitor Centre, Convict Depot, and Gift Shop, is free of charge.
Access beyond the Gatehouse Complex is available via guided tours only.
The Gatehouse is open daily from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Please refer to the tours page for departure times.
Fremantle Prison accepts payments by cash, EFTPOS, Visa, and Mastercard.

Conditions
- Family Pass is valid for two adults and up to three children (aged 4 - 15 years)
- Prison Tour Packages, Triple Prison Tour Packages, Tunnels & Prison Tour Packages and Gift Vouchers are only available for purchase through Fremantle Prison
- Accepted concession cards include: Seniors Card, Pensioner Card, Student Card, Backpacker Card (YHA, VIP, Nomads, Peter Pan). Concession rates are available for holders of valid and current concession cards (with a valid sticker or date). All concession cards must be presented at the time of ticket collection to be eligible for concession prices. Any adult seeking a concession must be the main beneficiary of the concession card
- Carers admitted free of charge at a ratio of 1:1, on presentation of a valid companion card and purchase of additional ticket/s. Card must be presented at the time of ticket collection.
- Any discount vouchers must be mentioned at the time of booking and presented for redemption when collecting tickets
- Discounted packages must be purchased on the day of first tour and can be issued as a return pass valid for 30 days
- Prices valid until 30 June 2026

Do I need to purchase a ticket to visit the prison?
Entry to the Fremantle Prison Gatehouse Complex - including the Visitor Centre, Convict Depot, and Gift Shop - is free of charge. However, access beyond the Gatehouse Complex requires a ticket for a guided tour.
Can I buy a ticket on the day?
Yes, tickets can be purchased on the day, subject to availability. Tours can sell out - particularly during peak periods & school holidays. If you require a specific time it is recommended to book in advance to avoid disappointment.
Torchlight Tour and Tunnels Tour tickets can be booked online via the Fremantle Prison website. Online bookings close at the 3.00pm the day prior to the tour.
Day tour tickets are not available to be purchased online. You can purchase on the day fom our ticket office or contact our team on (08) 9336 9200.
Why do I need to join a guided tour to enter the prison?
Fremantle Prison is a World Heritage-listed site, and visitor access is managed through guided tours to help preserve the historic environment and ensure visitor safety.
Guided tours provide a richer experience, offering expert insights into the prison’s history, architecture, and stories.
