Conditions of Entry

  1. Visitors to Fremantle Prison should note that the surfaces you walk on are not always even. Please watch your step.
  2. No shoes, no shirt, no entry.
  3. Fremantle Prison accepts no liability for any loss, damage or injury arising from a visit or whilst on the premises.
  4. It is a condition of entry that visitors observe all warning signs and follow instructions provided by the tour guide or other Fremantle Prison staff.
  5. Fremantle Prison reserves the right to alter, close or cancel any tour, exhibit or event. In this instance ticket refunds or exchanges are at the sole discretion of Fremantle Prison.
  6. Tickets must be retained by the holder until their visit to Fremantle Prison is complete.
  7. Fremantle Prison retains the right to deny access and / or remove visitors who are being a public nuisance, acting recklessly, or failing to observe directions from Fremantle Prison staff or signage.
  8. Tickets are non refundable and non transferable
  9. A valid concession card must be presented when purchasing or collecting tickets.
  10. You must refrain from touching artworks & artifacts such as paintings/sculptures & no items are to be altered or removed from display during your tour or visit to the Museum and Gallery spaces.

Tour Conditions

Convict Prison Tour  Important Information:
  • Wheelchair Access: This tour involves a number of stairs and is not recommended for those with mobility issues.
  • Refer to our Planning Guide for detailed information.

  • You must refrain from touching artworks & artifacts such as paintings/sculptures & no items are to be altered or removed from display during your tour or visit to the Museum and Gallery spaces.
 
Behind Bars Tour

Important Information:

  • Wheelchair Access: 90%
  • Refer to our Planning Guide for detailed information.
  • Whilst on your tour, you must stay with the tour group at all times.
  • Food & Drinks are not permitted on any tour, except for water.
  • You must refrain from touching artworks & artifacts such as paintings/sculptures & no items are to be altered or removed from display during your tour or visit to the Museum and Gallery spaces.
 
True Crime Tour

Important Information:

  • Wheelchair Access: Approximately 80%
  • Refer to our Planning Guide for detailed information.
  • This tour is not recommended for children under the age of 10 years due to the tour content.
  • Whilst on your tour, you must stay with the tour group at all times.
  • Food & Drinks are not permitted on any tour, except for water.
  • You must refrain from touching artworks & artifacts such as paintings/sculptures & no items are to be altered or removed from display during your tour or visit to the Museum and Gallery spaces.
 
Tunnels Tour

Tour Requirements:

  • Be physically fit and able.  If you are an expectant mother or are recovering from a medical procedure, you are advised not to participate on this tour
  • Have the ability to climb independently.
  • Have the ability to understand tour conditions and follow staff instructions.
  • Meet physical weight requirements: Min 40kgs (88.5lbs), Max 140kgs (308lbs) and fit into supplied safety equipment. This includes helmet, life jacket, harness, coveralls and boots. A range of sizes are available. 
  • Arrive sober (mandatory breath test applies)
  • Ensure long hair is tied back
  • Wear suitable clothing (Pants, jeans or shorts are recommended)
  • Bring or wear socks (boots provided).
  • It is a requirement that ALL PARTICIPANTS sign the following Declaration Form before participating in the Tunnels Tour (hard copies are available on arrival).

Important Information:

  • Not wheelchair accessible

  • inimum age is 12 years. Children between 12 and 15 must be accompanied by an adult (18+).
  • It is recommended that at least two adults accompany groups of two or more children to ensure an adequate level of adult supervision.
  • Should a child be unable to complete the tour for any reason they must be accompanied by at least one respective parent or guardian.
  • Children aged 16 and 17 must have declaration forms signed by a parent or guardian, but can partake in the tour without an adult present.
  • This tour is not recommended for pregnant women.
  • Cameras are not permitted is in the underground section of the Tunnels Tour, this includes the use of GoPro cameras. Lockers are provided in the Tunnels area for safe storage.
  • During winter months, the water level may increase so we suggest you pack some spare clothing and socks.
  • Whilst on your tour, you must stay with the tour group at all times.
  • Food & Drinks are not permitted on any tour, except for water.
 
Torchlight Tour

Important Information:

  • Wheelchair Access: 100%
  • Refer to our Planning Guide for detailed information.
  • This tour is not recommended for children under the age of 10 years.
  • These tours happen after dark, which might be scary for some people.
  • Torches are provided to visitors so you can see where you’re going and watch out for any tripping hazards.
  • Content warning: There are jump scares, sudden noises, includes entry to the Gallows (former place of execution) that some visitors may find confronting.
  • Whilst on your tour, you must stay with the tour group at all times.
  • Food & Drinks are not permitted on any tour, except for water.
  • You must refrain from touching artworks & artifacts such as paintings/sculptures & no items are to be altered or removed from display during your tour or visit to the Museum and Gallery spaces.
